Bocairent gastronomy is clearly influenced by the Sierra de Mariola and includes a part of Valencian cuisine and another of La Mancha

Typical dishes:

the Mariola’s gazpacho
the peppers stuffed with rice (bajoques farcides),
el puchero,
la olleta,
la borra
la pericana
rices in general
Sausages are also famous.

As for sweets, we must highlight the influence that the Arabs left us. In Bocairent, every moment of the year has the right sweets.

And to accompany these sweets nothing better than the herbero. This traditional liquor is made from sweet and dry anise flavored with different herbs from the Sierra.

Bocairent has diferents bars and restaurants, where you can taste its rich gastronomic culture.

Gastronomic contest of “Caça i Bolets” (hunting meat and mushrooms)

In November, the “Caça i Bolets” gastronomic contest is held. The contest consists of two parts: the first, in which a “borreta” dish is made, and the second, in which the participants prepare a dish with bushmeat and different species of mushrooms. This event has already made a space in the calendar after more than ten editions.

The recipes of the dishes that have participated in the contest during the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 have been collected in a recipe book that can be downloaded. And if you are a handyman, you can also try cooking them yourself.
