Beginning the route from the Ayuntamiento town hall square, continue along Mossén Hilari street, cross the “Darrere la Villa” bridge and pass by the fountain and d´En Ferris washhouse. Once at the crucifix take this path, which will lead you to the steps chiselled out of the rock. Go straight ahead and downwards into “la tanca del bou” which comes out into the Fos ravine. The route then follows the course of the Clariano river.
This path was the old communication route between Bocairent and Ontinyent. Along the ravine you will come across mills and textile factories like Pepe Juan, one of the best known thanks to its spectacular 6.5 m diameter water wheel; the Casa dels Julians – where the Tarongers ravine links up – the Lluna mill and the Patiràs mill. The route passes by the Tarongers fountain; and some metres further on you will reach the CV-81 road connecting Bocairent and Ontinyent. Opposite you will see the rock formation known as the “Cagalló del Gegant”.
At this point and on the right hand side look for a steep stairway where the path to the heights of Castellar will lead you. From here you can see the meandering route of the road to Bocairent as well as the Xàtiva to Alcoi railway line, which passes through various tunnels on its way through the Pantanet ravine. Return in the direction of Bocairent by leaving the Masarra farmstead on your left until you reach the Sant Antoni Abad chapel (16th century) and finally Bocairent itself.
